ABOUT

The Transcendent Church of Bass (TCoB) is is a not-for-profit (non-profit application pending) volunteer organized community space that was founded in 2006 upon the premise that music is a common thread that overcomes all cultural barriers. Our vision is to facilitate community through an expression of music, movement, wellness, and heartfelt connection.
In answer to the need for a larger, centralized hub for Seattle’s artists, musicians, and dancers, as well as a meeting area for the various community events and classes, Hendrik vanRensburg renovated a downtown Seattle warehouse and opened the TCoB’s doors in November of 2007. The TCoB has been a thriving community space for events, classes, potlucks, art shows, meetings, ceremonies, celebrations, and more! (Unfortunately we had to CLOSE our doors in February due to our inability to afford city-mandated safety upgrades. We’d love to reopen, and YOU can help!!)
Our intention is to foster an open forum that encourages movement, art, play, community dialogues, contemporary-cultural education, spiritual and personal evolvement, and inter-dependence as an alternative method to expressing and inviting the divine into our daily lives. We work hard to create a space of vibrant, inclusive, and nurturing energy where people of any religion or belief can come together within a supportive framework and share a common core connection: music.
We trust that all who participate in a Church of Bass event will share our commitment to respecting the space and each other, and our goal of creating sustainability and compassion in our ever-growing community.
